Building New When designing a new trex or composite deck, the spacing between floor joists should be 12 inches on center. On center means that the measurement should be taken from the center of a joist edge to the center of the next joist edge.
Side to side plank spacing is defined at a minimum of 1/8”. Your choice of fasteners may result in a slightly wider space between the planks. For example, TimberTech CONCEALoc and Hidden Fasteners provide a space of 1/8” - 3/16” between the planks.

I am getting ready to add 2 new decks to my house using some sort of composite decking. I've gone to the websites of several brands (Boardwalk, Seventrust, EverGrain, ChoiceDeck, TimberTech, Nexwood, Eon, EZDeck, and others) to determine waht the best joist spacing is.
